The Best Spring Cleaning Apps

Hey there, spring! Is it really you? Well, admittedly, that remains to be seen but a final puff of winter is no excuse to delay spring cleaning. I must confess that I LOVE spring cleaning.

There's just something about shaking off the dust and opening up the windows to fresh air that makes you feel like you're pushing the reset button on so many things. This is the BEST time of year to get organized, declutter, refresh, and recharge. And, of course, there are apps for that!

Bright Nest: I LOVE this app -it's one of the best designed apps I've ever seen. You tell the app a bit about your house and what you're responsible for (Do you have children's rooms, a lawn to take care of, a hot water tank to maintain) and what kind of tips you'd like (general, green, creative, etc).

It uses this information to give you custom tips, advice, schedules, and check lists of chores. I especially love how it explains the importance of chores that you normally outsource, like servicing your air conditioner, and explains to you what you can expect from a typical visit from this kind of service provider.

Our Home: This multi-user app assigns profiles to different family members so that chores can be delegted, followed up on, and crossed off the list with ease. One fun feature is that you can enter how much time you want the chores to take and how many 'points' they are worth. Why not determine as a family some different rewards you can enjoy when you hit different points levels?

Checklist Mom: I wish this app was a little less "pink" in its presentation, as it's an awesome checklist app for anyone, not just moms. It has everything from spring cleaning and moving checklists to party planning lists for every occasion. Great for keeping yourself organized once spring cleaning is completed.

Pinterest: It's a social media network, a visual book marking site, and an online scrapbook all in one! Pinterest is the perfect place to go to find ideas on what you can do for items you don't want to throw out or to find crafty, easy-to-do solutions for tricky spring cleaning challenges. Found 10 pounds of cranberries in your freezer? Pinterest will give you a thousand recipes to use them up. Need a better solution for storing your gardening equipment? You'll find a hundred different ideas.

Contact Clean: Last but not least, a simple app to help with digital spring cleaning. This app helps you clean up your contacts and remove duplicates.
