Photos are a key component of social media success. But how should a small business start snapping?
Studies have proven, time and time again, that variety is a crucial ingredient for social media engagement. Posting at different times of the day, posting a mix of fun and serious materials, posting a mix of words, videos, and photos. And it’s this last part that is often so intimidating to entrepreneurs. Do you have to become an expert photographer on top of everything else?
Stress not - it’s easier than ever to create great images on your smart phone for posting on social media. I presented about photography apps on CTV Ottawa Morning Live and I'm thrilled to share 5 of my favourites with you as well.
Frametastic: It's great for creating collages, which look really cool on social media. There are dozens of styles and arrangements to choose from and I love that you can change up the frame color, thickness, and edges. This is the perfect app for sharing tons of pics - either on social media or your blog - after an event where you'll have tons of material to make great collages.
Lensical - This is a fun photo editing app where you can apply filters to alter the color, make the photos look like they've been done with water colors, or a sketching pencil, or chalk. And you add on some really cool additions - like giving people a beard, or making them look like a monster, or aging them by decades. It's perfect for embracing the lighter side of social media.
Camera 360: This is a great all purpose photo editing tool - you can add frames, alter the color, add highlights - even smooth out skin so you look younger! It's perfect for editing photos to make them ready for social media.
Snapseed: This app can quickly make anyone's photos look polished and professional. It's a simple, intuitive photo editing app that makes all the difference - allowing your pics to really pop. I especially love transforming photos into black and white - all of a sudden, an ordinary photo transforms into a work of art! This is awesome for any small business who wants their photos to look great in blog posts
TouchNote: This app brings the postcard back - and even makes it more personal, thanks to the very technology that once threatened it. It turns your photos (which look fantastic thanks to Snapseed!) into post cards that you can personalize front and back. It takes care of the printing, the mailing, everything. TouchNote would be a great way to send personalized thank yous to clients and customers after a special event.
